Art as a universal language

I think of all art as stories in some universal language. Universal but not always clear. Writer Carolyn Henderson advocates that an artist should have a two or three sentence description of each piece of art in a show ready and handy to use for those who need it. I feel the same way. I know that most visual artists are better at image making than sentence making, myself for sure, but just consider it another medium or tool that is needed for your art to do really well. Like a journal it helps you sort out feelings about your art work.  It also steers the viewer in the correct direction if the viewer was not clear on the path you would have him take.
