Livonia artist and educator Gloria Betlem expresses her love of the Finger Lakes through her art.

This unique body of work includes eleven paintings, one for each of the Finger Lakes, integrating an aerial view with iconic and personal imagery related to each lake. Running below this work is a representation illustrating the geological beds and how injected fracking chemicals from horizontal hydraulic fracturing wells, travel through the shale beds and out into aquifer, water wells, lakes and rivers. Geologists and other specialists were Betlem's mentors to ensure the information was correct. The viewer can get a clear picture of the beauty our region holds, along with an understanding of what the consequences could be if fracking is allowed here. Other landscape paintings of the Finger Lakes will be included in her exhibit to round out the Finger Lakes experience.
