From 1994 to 1998, Murray published and edited Next... Magazine, a monthly poetry calendar and news magazine that was distributed free throughout Southern California.

He has previously published one full length collection of poems, Cows on the Freeway, and five chapbooks. He also edited "Paper Shredders," an anthology of poetry and prose about surfing.

His most recent book, from which he'll be reading, is My Kidney Just Arrived (Tebot Bach Press, 2011). The volume deals with his experiences as a dialysis and kidney transplant patient.
