University Avenue and Art Walk Enhancements Project

Request for Proposals from Teaching Artists : Neighborhood of the Arts 2012 Mosaic Light Poles Created by Community Youth

Young Audiences of Rochester (YAR), in partnership with the City of Rochester, is seeking a Teaching Artist(s) or Teaching Artist Team to facilitate the design of eight (8) mosaics for street light poles.  The poles will be placed on both sides of North Goodman Street in Rochester, NY, between Anderson Avenue and Village Gate. The City of Rochester will supply metal columnar light poles and the Teaching Artist(s) or Teaching Artist Team will work with high school aged students to design and install the mosaics on these poles. The Teaching Artist will guide students in an after-school setting in developing design concepts that incorporate the rich history of the Neighborhood of the Arts, the North Goodman Street area, as well as its existing structures and public art. The City of Rochester will deliver the light poles to the schools or community locations (to be determined) for the execution of the mosaics. The City of Rochester will pick up and install the completed mosaic poles. The budget for the Artist(s) is $21,500 (all-inclusive except for the metal light poles and installation of the completed poles, which will be provided).

Teaching Artist(s) wishing to be considered shall submit their proposal and required materials to the Young Audiences of Rochester office, attention: McKenzie Keenan, on or before 4:00pm on Friday, February 10, 2012.
